Stress for a child, like an adult, means insecurity. Most of the stress reactions that children have come in the form of trying to take control. There are some predictable patterns.

One of those themes is eating. Children either refuse to eat, or they eat too much.

The second common theme by which children try to rein in control is essentially temper tantrums. They can control the environment. They can control their parents. And sometimes they can, in their own mind, assuage the potential source of stress.
