SPEAKER: When colds, the flu,
and other bugs come knocking,
keep yourself protected.
Here are seven ways to help
avoid getting sick.
Don't share stuff you put
in or on your mouth.
We're talking about things
like toothbrushes, water
bottles, and silverware.
Steer clear of secondhand smoke.
Breathing it in
will get you sick more easily.
Do your best to keep your hands
off your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Avoid people who are
under the weather.
They won't hold it against you.
But if you're living with one,
disinfect surfaces everyone
in the home touches.
Wash your hands.
A lot.
Scrub for 20 seconds with soap
and water.
And get the flu vaccine once
a year.
Ideally, by the end of October.
But it can still be helpful,
even if you get it later.
Make these tips a habit.
And don't forget to eat healthy,
exercise, and get enough sleep
too.
