- a change in the ability to pay attention
INFREQUENT side effects
If experienced, these tend to have a Severe expression
- an extreme sense of wellbeing called euphoria
- tardive dyskinesia, a disorder characterized by involuntary movements of the face, mouth and tongue
- extrapyramidal disease, a type of movement disorder
- memory loss
- mental status changes
- fever
- fluid retention in the legs, feet, arms or hands
- chest pain
If experienced, these tend to have a Less Severe expression
- high blood pressure
- low blood pressure
- bruising under the skin
- throat irritation
- excessive saliva production
- indigestion
- urinary tract infection
- the inability to have an erection
- joint pain
- an abnormal increase in muscle tone
- muscle stiffness
- pain in the arms or legs
- difficulty sleeping
- chills
- abnormal manner of walking
- visible water retention
- excessive thirst
- a type of speech disorder called dysarthria
- cough
- nausea
- vomiting
- involuntary leakage of urine
- stomach cramps
- abnormal liver function tests
- nervousness
- a feeling of pins and needles on skin
- deep sleep or sleep for long periods
- fast heartbeat
RARE side effects
If experienced, these tend to have a Severe expression
- a complication of diabetes with high blood ketone levels called diabetic ketoacidosis
- diabetic hyperosmolar coma
- diabetes
- excessive fat in the blood
- decreased blood platelets
- very low levels of granulocytes, a type of white blood cell
- low levels of white blood cells
- low levels of a type of white blood cell called neutrophils
- increased eosinophils in the blood
- neuroleptic malignant syndrome, a reaction characterized by fever, muscle rigidity and confusion
- disturbance in the ability of the eye to focus
- a change in vision
- a stroke
- obstruction of a blood vessel by a blood clot
- blocked bowels with decreased peristaltic movement
- enlarged fatty liver
- liver failure
- inflammation of the liver called hepatitis
- priapism, a prolonged erection of the penis
- a problem with menstrual periods
- skin rash with sloughing
- a condition with muscle tissue breakdown called rhabdomyolysis
- osteoporosis, a condition of weak bones
- seizures
- sleep apnea
- a skin rash
- puffy face from water retention
- high amount of bilirubin in the blood
- swollen lymph nodes
- trouble breathing
- difficulty swallowing
- an inability to completely empty the bladder
- high blood sugar
- heat stroke
- a significant type of allergic reaction called anaphylaxis
- a type of allergic reaction called angioedema
- inflammation of the liver with stoppage of bile flow

- an increased need to urinate often
- restless legs syndrome, an extreme discomfort in the calf muscles when sitting or lying down
