- management or monitoring precaution: Renal-Adjust dose for renal impairment due to renally cleared metabolite. Neuro/Psych-Risk for delirium, increased confusion, falls and seizures with accumulation. Avoid treatment with 3 or more CNS active agents. General-Consider naloxone order.
Giving Haloperidol to a child under 12
- Severe Precaution: Increased sensitivity to effects, adverse CNS effects and respiratory depression due to decreased elimination in neonates. With any opioid, access to naloxone for emergency reversal can mitigate risk from accidental ingestion/overdose.
