Crispy, delicious, bite-sized chicken nuggets. Your kids love them. But they're not exactly the healthiest thing on the planet…

Don't worry – this go-to dinner is easy to clean up into a healthier version that will keep your kids just as happy!

Take whole, skinless chicken breasts, cut them up into nugget-sized pieces. Roll in egg wash, whole wheat flour and some panko breadcrumbs.

Cook them in a teaspoon or two of canola or olive oil – and make sure you don't overdo that oil, or you can even bake them.

This way, you get a high-protein nugget without all of the bad fat, salt and preservatives.

Want to go meatless? Try the same thing but with cauliflower. Your kids may not notice a huge difference -- if you think about it, chicken itself doesn't have much flavor. Coating them in buffalo sauce may help mask the difference even more.

And finally, don't forget to add a good dipping sauce. Ketchup and barbecue sauce are FULL of sugar, so try something a little lower in the sweet stuff — mustard or even light ranch dressing!

With a little time and planning, you can turn an unhealthy food into a healthier kid's favorite!
