How the interaction occurs:
Rifampin may speed up how quickly your liver processes ramelteon.
What might happen:
While you are taking rifampin and for a few weeks after you stop taking it, your ramelteon may not work as well. After the effects of your rifampin wear off, you may have more side effects from your ramelteon than normal.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Let your doctor know if your ramelteon seems less effective or if its side effects increase when you stop taking rifampin.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
