How the interaction occurs:

Entacapone and opicapone prevent your body from processing COMT-metabolized agents.

What might happen:

Taking entacapone or opicapone with COMT-metabolized agents can cause an increase in heart rate, abnormal heart rhythm, and changes in blood pressure.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to change or discontinue one of your medicines. Your doctor may also want to check your blood pressure regularly. Let your doctor know if you have any dizziness, if your heart rate increases, or if you have an irregular heart beat.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
