Uses
What is Evenity used for?
Evenity (romosozumab) is commonly used for people who have osteoporosis (a condition that causes the bones to become thin and weak) and are at a high risk for breaking a bone.
Learn more about How Evenity Works for Osteoporosis.
Evenity may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.
How does Evenity work (mechanism of action)?
Evenity blocks a substance in the body called sclerostin from working. By blocking sclerostin, Evenity increases the amount of new bone that the body creates. This can help to increase bone growth and reduce the risk of breaking a bone.
How is Evenity supplied (dosage forms)?
Evenity is available in the following dosage forms that are injected under the skin.
- 105 mg/1.17 mL solution for injection, prefilled syringe
How should I store Evenity?
Evenity should be kept in its original carton to protect it from light. It must be stored in the refrigerator, between 36 F to 46 F (2 C to 8 C). Do not shake or freeze the medicine.
Evenity can be stored at room temperature up to 77 F (25 C) for up to 30 days, if needed. Once it has been stored at room temperature, it cannot be placed back into the refrigerator. If it is not used within 30 days of being stored at room temperature, it should be thrown away.

Broken Thigh Bone (Femur Fracture). Some people using Evenity have partially broken (fractured) the bone in their thigh (the femur). It isn’t clear if Evenity increases the risk of this type of fracture. Call your healthcare provider if you have a dull, aching pain in your thigh, hip, or groin area.
Heart Attack and Stroke. Evenity can increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke that can lead to death. This risk is increased in people with existing heart disease. Do not use Evenity if you have had a heart attack or stroke within the past year without talking to your healthcare provider. This could increase your risk of having another heart attack. Get emergency help if you have any of the following symptoms of a heart attack or stroke.
- Chest pain or pressure

- Fast or abnormal heartbeat

Low Calcium Level (Hypocalcemia). Evenity can cause low calcium levels, which can be serious. Decreased calcium levels can cause a rare dangerous heart rhythm problem called QT prolongation and torsade de pointes. Some people have a higher risk of this, including people who have kidney failure, have other people in their family who have had these conditions, have low potassium or magnesium, or who take some medicines for other heart rhythm problems. Call your healthcare provider if you have any of the following symptoms.
- Changes in your heart rate or rhythm, such as a fast or skipping heartbeat
- Fainting
- Numbness, tingling, or burning sensation in your arms, feet, or face
- Muscle pain, twitches, cramps, or spasms
- Seizures
Severe Jawbone Problems (Osteonecrosis). Evenity can rarely cause severe jawbone problems, also called osteonecrosis of the jaw. In this condition, your jawbone may get damaged due to reduced blood flow. You may be at higher risk if you are undergoing certain dental procedures (such as a tooth extraction or dental implants), have poor oral health, or have cancer or certain other conditions. You may be told to see a dentist before starting Evenity and to practice good mouth care. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms of jaw osteonecrosis.
- Jaw pain or discomfort
- Mouth sores
- Loose teeth
