    Only When Necessary:



    An adult over 60:

    management or monitoring precaution: Urogenital-Highly anticholinergic; pre-existing urinary retention is contraindicated. Neuro/Psych-May predispose to sedation, confusion and falls. High risk of delirium. Gastrointestinal-Risk for worsening or new-onset constipation. Hepatic-Lower doses are recommended in severe impairment. Renal-CrCL=10-30 mL/min. affects drug disposition; lower doses recommended. Cardiovascular-Heart failure, bradyarrhythmias, hypomagnesemia, hypokalemia may increase the risk of QT prolongation.

    Giving Detrol to a child under 12:

    Severe Precaution: Efficacy not established. Aggression, abnormal and hyperactive behavior reported. Increased risk of urinary tract infections,
