March 27, 2020 -- “I want you to know that I think you all are rock stars.”

A man who recovered from the new coronavirus left a sweet message for the health care workers at Cleveland Clinic who took care of him while he was sick.

Cleveland Clinic shared a picture of the note on Instagram, saying its staff found the note on the glass door of the isolation room the man had been in. One of the patient’s doctors says they frequently wrote on the same window to communicate as he recovered

“As he left the unit, he asked our nurse to write, in the same way we did for him, a message for us,” says Cleveland Clinic’s Eduardo Mireles-Cabodevila, MD. “This gesture from the patient touched our hearts and was another reminder of why we do what we do.”

“It was a joy to see this patient recover,” Mireles-Cabodevila says. “Throughout these uncertain times, one thing that has shined through has been the commitment and engagement of our caregivers. I couldn’t be more proud of our team.”

As more people test positive for COVID-19, the CDC is urging people to wash their hands properly and to avoid close contact with others, whenever possible, to prevent getting infected.
