When you're living with type 2 diabetes it's important to move your body. Physical activity burns calories, boosts energy, and lowers blood sugar. It even lifts your mood. Here are five simple tips to get you off the couch and moving. First, start small and make time for exercise. Move your body at least 30 minutes a day. Walk. It's free, and there are a bunch of ways to get going. Kids and dogs are great motivators. Talk while you walk by taking phone calls while you're on the move. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk or jog in place while watching your favorite TV show or browsing the internet. Shake your groove thing. Dancing is not only fun, but it's a great way to move your body.
