Find a quiet setting. You don't have to be home. Sit somewhere comfortable. Don't slouch. Try to keep your spine aligned. Eyes can be open or closed. "Scan" your body for tension. Relax shoulders, neck, and chest muscles. The goal is to clear your mind. Pay attention to your breathing. Take deep, even-paced breaths in and out, in and out. Or ... Focus on a specific object, image, or mantra. Whichever helps you calm your thoughts. Try it for 5 minutes at a time. Even short breaks can have a big impact. Feel silly? Don't. Mediation helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.
