Researchers have been debating for some time about whether it’s better to lose weight slow and gradually or lose weight rapidly
and there was recently one study that came out that suggested that rapid weight loss was just as good as slow weight loss that kind of fits where we’re going.
We started out, I was a big fan of slow, gradual weight loss, 1 to 2 pounds a week and start out exercising slowly.
As we’ve studied obesity more and more, I still think that works for some people, but I also think a more extreme approach is appropriate for those people that are ready and motivated to make a bigger change.
So I think there is nothing wrong with rapid weight loss.
The problem is whether you lose weight slowly or you lose weight rapidly, you still have the challenge of keeping it off and that remains our biggest challenge in long term weight maintenance.
