DR. DAVIS
With people with schizophrenia we're always working on their social interaction. There's a marked tendency to be withdrawn, to not interact with people outside the family. So where we're able, we'd like for schizophrenic people to be involved in some kind of group therapy or group interaction.

And we praise the caretakers. We hope they have a sense of fulfillment, an altruistic sense that they're, you know, helping this person. But it is a tremendous burden. And where the family can get the patient involved in these different treatment areas, then that relieves the burden from them to some extent. Sometimes the family needs to seek out-- and hopefully with a doctor's help-- the areas where they can transport the patient and be involved.
