Figuring out what foods you should eat on your keto diet doesn't have to be difficult. Popular keto diet guidelines suggest that you get 70% to 80% of your total daily calories from fats, 5% to 10% from carbohydrates, and 10% to 20% from protein.

Use our handy keto diet shopping list to help you choose the right types of foods for keto-friendly meals:

  • Proteins. Meat, eggs, and seafood
  • Dairy products. Full-fat cheese and plain Greek yogurt.
  • Vegetables. Low-carbohydrate vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, carrots, leeks, celery, green onions, cucumbers, peppers, radishes, spinach, tomatoes, radishes, and salad greens.
  • ‌‌Drinks: Regular bottled water or sparkling water, unsweetened tea or coffee
  • Fats. Fatty cuts of meat, lard, butter, cream, nuts, seeds, avocados, plants oils like coconut and olive oils, and oily fish.
  • Carb-rich foods. Avoid grains in the form of bread and baked goods, sweets, pasta, and breakfast cereals.  
  • Starchy vegetables. Avoid vegetables like potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, peas, and beans.  
  • Fruit. Avoid fruits and fruit juices. 
  • Alcohol. Avoid alcohol, but if you have must have it, choose from low-carb options like vodka or tequila. Use soda water for a mixer.
