How the interaction occurs:
Long-term use of dexamethasone may speed up how quickly your liver processes ixabepilone.
What might happen:
The amount of ixabepilone in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together or if you have recently taken dexamethasone for several days. Your doctor may want to adjust the dose of your ixabepilone. Let your doctor know right away if you experience any numbness and/or tingling of the hands and/or feet; signs of infection such as fever, chills, cough, or burning/pain on urination; chest pain; difficulty breathing; fast/rapid heart beat; or unusual weight gain.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
